WHAT'S BUZZIN?
YFM MONTHLY RECAP (APRIL/2025-MAY/2025)
YFM (Youth and Family Ministry) is continuing to grow at a steady pace. The UTots (preschool) and Ukids (elementary aged) have started units on Cooperation. Harnessing the power of play and fun, we tie in a spiritual foundation of cooperation and our Unity Principles to all of the games we play. In a country and a world that often occurs divided and hostile, developing and encouraging our natural inclinations for cooperation offers possibilities for future solution finders to pave the way to peace. Kids are never too young to begin learning how to cooperate, and to connecting it to our spiritual nature!
Our Uniteens (middle schoolers) are taking a deep dive into a Self-Esteem Unit. In this unit, they leverage our Unity Principles to learn how to walk their Truth, and to distinguish their Spiritual Truth from peer-pressure and the negative voice that often lives inside our heads. Like all of our other classes, it includes meditation/prayer time, inner reflection, and lots of fun games that further enhance the lessons.

Our YOU (high schoolers) direct their class with the support of their sponsor. They are getting excited for our summer retreat, called Legacy Rally, coming up in June, and IYOU, coming up in July. Have questions? Contact Tammy Carrillo at yfm@unityofsa.org, and we can set up a time to talk more in depth.
YFM Donation Request:
We are looking for a Windows computer that is within 5 years old and can still be updated to replace our current check in/check out computer. Our current computer can no longer be updated, and takes up to 15 minutes to turn on. Trying to print something from it is even worse. If you are one of those people who like to update your computer quickly, and have a gently used windows computer that you no longer want, we are interested in taking it off your hands. Please contact Tammy Carrillo, YFM Director at yfm@unityofsa.org, or you can call/text her at 210.264.8601. Thank you!!!
THE FIVE PRINCIPLES - UNITY'S CORE
01.
GOD IS ALL GOOD AND ACTIVE IN EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE
02.
I AM NATURALLY GOOD BECAUSE GOD'S DIVINITY IS IN ME AND EVERYONE
03.
I CREATE MY EXPERIENCE BY WHAT I CHOOSE TO THINK AND WHAT I FEEL AND BELIEVE
04.
THROUGH AFFIRMATIVE PRAYER AND MEDITATION, I CONNECT WITH GOD AND BRING OUT THE GOOD IN MY LIFE
05.
I DO AND GIVE MY BEST BY LIVING THE TRUTH I KNOW. I MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

OUR APPROACH:
– THE LIVING
CURRICULUM
KEEPING YOUR KIDDOS SAFE For the safety and liability of our program, we perform criminal background checks on all volunteers who work with our youth. It is our policy to have 2 volunteers per classroom space (this includes travel and participation in regional events). Our Safety Team monitors the Unity Heights Building during the 11:00 a.m. youth classes. They are trained to question anyone who enters the building while classes are in session. Registration forms must be on file for all youth ministry participants and will be updated at the start of each school year. Please note we can only provide supervision of your child while they are checked into class. Otherwise, families must supervise, monitor, and be responsible for their child at all times while on campus. We ask that you please do so to ensure your child’s safety.
We believe, as our founder, Myrtle Fillmore did, that our mission as educators is not to entertain kids, but, instead, to draw them out. Moving past the idea that teachers have all the answers, we instead realize that all of us are uniquely unfolding on our spiritual paths, having equal access to the Spirit within.
Using storytelling and experiential creative expression, the Living Curriculum approach helps draw out the Truth inside of us we already know. This process helps to explore spiritual principles and to become aware of how those principles operate in our lives.
Tammy Conner has been studying Unity Principles since 1995, and has been part of UCSA since 2007. She spent 7 joyful years teaching Youth Minister at UCSA from 2007-2014.
Tammy has a degree in Education, and a love and passion for sharing spirituality with kids. She also completed the Introduction Leaders Program with Landmark Worldwide, where she mastered the art of listening to others and making things happen that weren't going to happen anyway. She loves coaching, mentoring, and empowering others to be their best selves.
