At Unity Church of San Antonio, we offer an annual Remembrance Service to honor any of life’s transitions, changes, and losses. At the service, we are invited to recognize the spirit of the people who have touched our lives. It is a poignant service, opening our hearts. Clear some space to prepare for the holiday season. By participating, many people are able to move through feelings of sadness. And into the holidays with a joyful heart.
The holidays are coming and many people experience them happily, with great anticipation for sharing family traditions, celebrating with holiday parties, and wishing for a prosperous New Year. For some, the coming holidays can trigger other feelings. Often this can be due to past loss or unresolved grief.
This phenomenon is well known and well documented. Enter “holiday depression” in any search engine online and you will find a startling number of articles. Many of them have suggestions for coping with the holiday blues. One frequent suggestion is to reach out to a faith community.
Even if you have never attended services at Unity Church of San Antonio before, you are welcome to join us. You will find our CommUNITY warmly welcomes persons of every ethnicity, language, age, gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, economic status, occupation, and faith background.
The Remembrance Service will be held in the sanctuary of Unity Church of San Antonio, located at 1723 W. Lawndale Street, San Antonio, TX, 78209, at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2018. We invite everyone to attend. This event is free. This year our service will feature a special altar where you can place a photo of your loved one. A corkboard and pushpins will be available for your photo, or feel free to bring your framed photo that can stand on its own.
