Serve Alongside Our Friends from The Awakening Community!
Join us in a time of giving to others as Unity of SA and The Awakening Community collaborate, providing a luncheon and holiday party for over 100 residents at a nearby senior living center. We need your help to make it happen on December 10, 2017, 12:00 at p.m. Come share your love at our Holiday Outreach for residents at the Pecan Hill Apartments, 1600 Lawndale Street.
The Awakening Community is led by friend of Unity and founding minister Reverend Erika Forbes Wilson. Rev. Erika was a frequent guest speaker during our time of transition, and her community joined us in our summertime outreach to Pecan Hill when we hosted an ice cream social there. We have also collaborated with them in the past for an interfaith service. We are so pleased they will join us this year. Be sure to make our friends feel welcome and appreciated.
We serve a holiday dinner to the residents, sing Christmas carols, and provide holiday treats. We do need helpers to cook food, or bring a pie. Sign up here to do so. At this time, we still have many opportunities to cook. When you sign up, you’ll leave your contact information and long-time event organizer Mary Tisdale will be in touch to let you know what dishes we are in need of. No need to register if you plan to help by caroling, or serving food; simply head down the street to Pecan Hill after church on the 10th.
The residents of the apartment complex for individuals with affordable housing needs look forward to this event every year! It will be held on the first floor of the apartments in their community room. This is a wonderful opportunity to spread holiday cheer. When you see Mary Tisdale, take a moment to thank her for her long-time leadership of this outreach! We appreciate you and your Sacred Service in the Holiday season to our friends and neighbors in Pecan Hill apartments.
