Where is God? What is My Potential? How Does Prayer Lead to Fulfillment?
These are the reflection questions that Unity Church of San Antonio’s Prayer Chaplains and Youth Ministry have been exploring in preparation for Silent Unity’s World Day of Prayer.
Unity Church of San Antonio (UCSA) warmly invites and welcomes everyone to their local observation of World Day of Prayer on September 12, at 7:00 p.m. The service will be located in their sanctuary on 1723 West Lawndale Drive.
Prepare to be uplifted and inspired by a special service which will include a powerful meditation with senior minister Rev. Jimmie Scott and a special presentation by Chaplain Birdie Shawker. Shawker currently serves at Connelly Memorial Medical Center in Floresville, Texas as Chaplain and at UCSA in the area of communications. Featured throughout the presentation will be the reflections thoughtfully prepared by the Prayer Chaplains and young people in the UCSA community. All of this in support of Silent Unity’s 24 hour prayer vigil.
Thousands of people will join Silent Unity®—an international, transdenominational, 24/7 prayer ministry— and Unity churches and centers around the world on September 12, 2019, for Unity World Day of Prayer. The theme of the 24-hour prayer event is “Infinite Presence, Unlimited Potential.” This year’s affirmation is: I celebrate the vast possibilities for my life.
“World Day of Prayer gives us an opportunity to come together and cultivate a faithful mindset. The activity of prayer is a way to discover inner strength, as well as courage, and at the same time keep us attuned to the Divine,” said Rev. Jimmie Scott.
The 24-hour Prayer Vigil will begin the evening of Wednesday, September 11, and continue through Thursday, September 12. Unity invites people of all faiths to join in this sacred prayer activity. Names can be submitted for prayer online at worlddayofprayer.org.
“The theme ‘Infinite Presence, Unlimited Potential’ will be visibly expressed at Unity World Headquarters in Unity Village, Missouri,” said Rev. Linda Martella-Whitsett, vice president of Unity Prayer and Practice. “The 24-hour Prayer Vigil traditionally begins with a beautiful candlelight walk across our central courtyard. We will also symbolize the power of our united prayers by asking people everywhere to light a virtual candle at worlddayofprayer.org. The candles will be displayed as points of light on a global map.”
