“The Powers of Zeal and Order” Jennifer Gates, Youth and Family Ministry Director
From Charles Fillmore, Co-founder of Unity:
“Zeal – Intensity, ardor, enthusiasm: the inward fire of the soul that urges humankind onward, regardless of the intellectual mind of caution and conservatism. “
“Order is the first law of the universe. Indeed, there could be no universe unless its various parts were kept in perfect harmony.”
Affirmation: I face each day with enthusiasm! I am focused and flexible!
This week, in Youth Ministry, we will be discussing in more depth the Powers of Zeal and Order. Drawing upon the rich history of Unity teachings and traditions we will provide an opportunity for our children and teens to understand how Zeal and Order are inherent parts of their stock of Powers. We will also define what each of these powers means and look for ways to incorporate them in our lives.
We are also privileged to have a guest presenter today, Dr. Bill Robbins, who will discuss Zeal and Order with our older children and teens! In addition to being a long-standing member of our UCSA community, Bill has a dental practice in San Antonio, is a clinical professor at UT Health Science Center, travels around the world as a speaker, and has a beautiful family!
Through discussion, games, storytelling and meditation, adult volunteers will provide information about the Powers of Zeal and Order and how each of us can remain open to seeing them expressed in our lives.
Children and teens will be able to identify ways that the Powers of Zeal and Order show up in their lives. They will briefly explore the meaning of each Power, and they will begin to think about how to integrate the Powers in their daily lives.
Principle #1: God is good and present everywhere.
Principle #2: I am naturally good because God’s divinity is in me.
Principle #3: I create my life experience by what I choose to think, believe and feel.
Principle #4: There is power in affirmative prayer and meditation.
Principle #5: I must live the Truth that I know!
Through our study of the Powers of Zeal and Order, we each affirm that: I enthusiastically follow the clear path ahead of me as I call forth my Powers of Zeal and Order. I am excited about the days ahead. I have energy to move forward and I do so with a deep conviction in my ability to evolve with focus, trusting the path ahead of me.
As always, I invite each of you to join us in our classroom on a Sunday morning. You may just find that your spiritual life is enriched by the lessons we are sharing. We are especially looking for volunteers who are willing to serve during the summer months – June, July, and August!
