Easter Sunday – Resurrection, Rebirth, and Renewal
“The resurrection takes place in us every time we rise to Jesus’ realization of the perpetual indwelling life that is connecting us to the Father. A new flood of life comes to all who open their minds and their bodies to the living word of God.” – Charles Fillmore, Co-Founder of Unity
Affirmation: I am here to shine. I am here to grow. I am open to new beginnings!
Easter Sunday is the day we celebrate the resurrection or “rebirth” of Jesus Christ. Although Jesus’ work on earth, in human form, has come to an end with his crucifixion on the cross, his spirit and his teaching live on through each of us.
This week, in our Youth Ministry classrooms adult volunteers will share information about the story of Easter. They will outline the Easter story told in the Bible along with metaphysical interpretations and then use the caterpillar/butterfly life cycle to illustrate what transformation looks like in an every day, easily accessible example. The lesson of the butterfly is one of letting go of old behavior and moving into the next phase of existence. Each of us transforms through multiple stages in our life. It is only through exertion (both putting forth effort and prayer/meditation) that we emerge into whom we will be next.
Learning objective for children/teens: Children and teens will discuss and continue to incorporate or expand upon existing knowledge of their own connection to Jesus as a teacher. A deeper understanding of the Christ Consciousness or Christ Within will be encouraged as we examine the correlation of the lifecycle of a butterfly with that of our own spiritual transformation.
Unity Principles for this week:
Principle #2: I am naturally good because God’s Divinity is in me and in everyone.
Principle #3: I create my world through my thoughts and choices.
As always, I invite each of you to join us in our classroom on a Sunday morning. You may just find that your spiritual life is enriched by the lessons we are sharing. And, remember, volunteers for our Youth Ministry team are welcomed with open arms! Contact me to learn more about supporting this important area of our ministry!
I would also like to invite you to share Easter breakfast with our Unity of Sa CommUNITY on Sunday, April 16, prior to our 11:00 a.m. service. Monetary love offerings received from this breakfast will benefit our YM program and assist with costs for our YOU teens attending their summer rally! A heartfelt thank you to our fabulous YOU sponsor, Gary Glassman, for helping coordinate this event with our Board of Trustees!
