Jennifer Llamas, Youth and Family Ministry Director
Throughout the month of October, we have been studying the Power of Zeal (enthusiasm, audacity, and devotion) in our Youth Ministry lessons. As we close out our lessons on this power, this week we are examining the faculty of devotion. Over the past month, we have looked at our Power of Zeal and considered the energetic flow of our physical and spiritual energy as our faculty of enthusiasm. We have also considered the effect of bold living, or our faculty of audacity in courageously overcoming obstacles as we pursue our purpose in life. Adding to these ideas this week is our ability to remain focused and devoted to our path. We begin to fully understand that our zestful energy becomes purposeful, spiritual pursuit when we harness our enthusiasm to propel us forward.
Once we have focused our energy and committed to bold living, the quality of devotion calls us to be single-minded and whole-hearted with our attention. Devotion is a present moment activity keeping us grounded in the here and now. Devotion reminds us that where our thought goes, so our energy flows. Remaining devoted to our path and intention keeps our energy on track for success.
During this study of our Power of Zeal, the following has been our Family Prayer shared inside our homes. We invite each of you to join in our focused, committed, and enthusiastic pursuit of realizing that we can direct our energy and harness this forward momentum for the blessing and nurturing of the world around us!
October’s Family Prayer
Holy and Divine Spirit, I am so grateful to be alive! Thank you for the blessings that surround me and live through me. I sizzle with divine energy. I am blessed with the wisdom to harness my spiritual energy as I focus on the bold path I have chosen. I know that I can overcome any challenges or obstacles in my path as I devote my attention to achieving my goals. I move forward with eager anticipation and am so thankful that my life can inspire those around me. Amen.
