Jennifer Llamas, Youth and Family Ministry Director
The word audacity is so fun to say! It is not used often, and it’s a great word to sprinkle into as many conversations as possible. As we contemplate the Power of Zeal this month in our Youth Ministry lessons, audacity is an important component to think about. Last week, we considered the role of enthusiasm as part of our Power of Zeal. Enthusiasm is the focused energy that ramps us up and provides our eagerness for life. The quality of audacity can be thought of as boldness. Audacity is the forward motion that works with our enthusiasm to overcome any challenges in our path.
Have you ever had moments in your life when the road ahead seemed uncertain or when painful situations seemed beyond your control? During the worldwide pandemic, we have been collectively living through such a time. The news can seem intimidating, our health can feel precarious, and our spiritual grounding can feel shaky. Instead of retreating into fear, these are times that call for courage, for faith, and for wholeness-thinking. Just when things seem the most challenging, when days seem darkest – this is the time to call into action our Power of Zeal. To eagerly awaken each morning knowing what is ours to do. To declare that we will live our lives as a blessing to those around us. To think boldly of the possibilities that lie within and around us. When we live an audacious life, we shimmer and shine. We shine a light in the darkness. We inspire others, and we bless the world around us.
Here’s to a week filled with energized focus and shimmering courage!
