Jennifer Llamas, Youth and Family Ministry Director
The month of November in Youth Ministry has been all about our Power of Release. Through our weekly study, we have learned about allowing our minds to seek clarity, releasing limitations that hold us back, and shifting our consciousness to align our thoughts with our highest spiritual Truth.
We have a special week ahead as we turn our thoughts to Thanksgiving. 2020 has presented some challenges, and family gatherings may not look the same as usual this year. As we prepare our hearts and minds to reflect upon the abundance we DO have and the gratitude we CHOOSE to have, our lesson for this week is focused on the art of “For Giving”. As we prepare our hearts and minds for a time of Thanksgiving, it may be appropriate first to use our Power of Release to let go of hurts, anxiety, tension, or unhappiness that we can control. Releasing frees up space in our hearts to embrace the abundance of our lives.
Are there circumstances in your life you would like to release? Is your body holding tension you’re readyto shrug off? Does your heart need to let go of resentment, anger, or hurt? If so, please join us in our active pursuit of “For Giving” by thoughtfully considering what you can “Give” “For” each thing you wish to release. For example, if you have been feeling tension in your body, you can give yourself time to sit
quietly and breathe. FOR tension GIVE quiet space and breathing.
If you find yourself getting angry while driving in city traffic, you may be able to shift your thoughts to the songs on your radio instead or recognize that the other drivers are people, just like you. FOR anger GIVE a shift in perspective; FOR anger GIVE understanding or connection. In today’s uncertain world, many people are lashing out inanger at the circumstances around them, so you may have encountered rude behavior from others. Often, speaking a kind word or offering a smile can help diffuse situations like this, and sometimes, the best solution is simply to walk away. So, FOR rudeness GIVE kind words, a smile, or space.
What are you ready to release this week, this month, or this year? What belongings, attitudes, or thoughts no longer serve a purpose in your life? What exciting, loving, and joyous things are ready to fill the spaces you create by letting go of all the things you no longer need? Join us as we prepare our hearts and minds for Thanksgiving and lovingly release and For Give.
