100 Years of Unity – This is Who We Are! This is our joyous and affirming theme for youth ministry during 2021. Over the coming year, we will be joining with our larger Unity of SA community as we recognize and celebrate 100 years of Unity presence in San Antonio. Each month, we will reflect upon the overall Unity history and also examine the beliefs and values of our beloved spiritual home. We will be examining Unity of San Antonio’s Core Values, Vision Statement, Mission Statement, and Blessings. By looking closely at our stated beliefs, we are better able to express them as we move through our daily life.
During the month of January, we begin with our annual White Stone celebration. Then, over the following weeks, we will look more closely at the history of the Unity movement. As we begin a new year, it’s important to remember that we can’t hold things tightly in our grasp, and at the same time reach out and take something new. We must release the things we no longer need or have room for. A good way to think about this is to remember a time when you have cleaned out your closet or your room, or garage space. For children, maybe you have gathered toys or games or clothing you have outgrown and donated them to a charity or to a younger friend or family member. By clearing out the things that are no longer a good fit in our life, we will now have room for new things that we need or that work better for our forward movement. This is also a great time to think about using our active faith (seeing and believing that our best good will come to us, even if we cannot yet see it) and making space for the excitement of the year that lies ahead. By combining quiet, reflective time and active faith, we will take time to listen to our inner voice to find the name we will carry with us for the coming year.
This week, we will be thinking about how our ability to be still and listen for inner guidance while trusting in the unseen support around us will help create room for the new and the good that is ours in 2021. Together, we affirm: I know my Truth!
