The Power of Will – Choice, Willingness, Commitment
As we continue our study of the Power of Will this month in Youth Ministry, we will turn our attention to the quality of Willingness that is inherent in our Power of Will. Last week, we examined our ability to choose – to pay attention to where and how we spend our time and to declare our choice for moving our lives forward. Building upon our Faculty of Choice, we will now explore our Willingness to hold true to the path of our choosing. This week, we will ask ourselves what we are longing for, what we are willing to strive towards, and if we are willing to follow our path towards accomplishment versus settling for complacency.
Through story, prayer, affirmation, and artwork, we will align our minds with our spiritual quality of Willingness. As we tune in to our Faculty of Willingness, we also engage our ability to Allow. Allowing calls us to remain flexible, open, and alert to our inner voice. Having declared our chosen path and having determined to remain true to our calling, we also create space for peaceful agreement as we listen to the divine wisdom that flows through us.
Being in spiritual alignment and choosing a path that leads us to our next best place in life does not necessarily equate to a life of ease and comfort. Our Power of Will guides us and supports us through change and growth, reminding us that we possess the inner qualities to achieve what we have come here to do and who we have come here to be. Our faculty of Willingness keeps us grounded as we slowly but surely move forward, calling out, “Nevertheless, I am willing…”.
