“Church? Who Needs It?” With Tomas Deleon, LUT
Church? Who needs it? That’s how more and more people are feeling about church these days!
Church attendance has been on a steady decline for the last half century or so. Why do you suppose that is? Have we given up on God?
I don’t think so, but we are giving up on religion. That’s understandable. Jonathan Swift (Gulliver’s Travels) wrote: “We have just enough religion to hate, but not enough to love.” True then, true now.
This is where spirituality comes into the picture. More and more people are referring to themselves as “spiritual, but not religious”. The truth is we are out-growing religion, but not spirituality because it is who we are.
So perhaps you feel you don’t need church, but the fact is science and medicine are beginning to realize that being part of a positive spiritual community is good for our well-being. Unity is a positive path for spiritual living.
You are warmly invited this Sunday, September 1, to our service at Unity of San Antonio where we’ll “do church” the Unity way. We all need it.
