Rev. Jimmie Scott
Yesterday, while listening to some old cassette tapes from seminary classes, the instructor of the class posed a question that I immediately had a reaction to. She asked the class, “What would happen in your life if you didn’t already have an idea of what to expect?”
I do not recall that simple question making a conscious impact in my mind at the time, but the insinuation of the question resonated with my experience. I definitely had certain expectations at the time and knew what they were.
However, in retrospect, I have had to reluctantly surrender many of them to a higher order. The ones I have held onto usually morph into different variations of the originals which gives more credence to the value of the question.
The Truth teachings that represent the ever-changing universe we live in remind us to be flexible and to be open and receptive in our expectations. When we know what we want the why, or the how usually becomes obvious.
That is the process side of spirit. The side that reminds us to manifest, but not manipulate. Put another way, “Seek ye first the kingdom of the heavens, then all else will be added unto you.”
