Unity Church of San Antonio senior minister, Reverend Jimmie Scott, was honored internationally for his contributions to Black History Month by Unity World Headquarters at Unity Village. Their mission is “Through prayer, publishing, and spiritual education, we support people in realizing and expressing their divine potential for healthy, prosperous and meaningful lives.”
During a recent social media campaign, “Rev. Jimmie” as he is known by his congregants, was featured by Unity World Headquarters to raise awareness of notable current and historic leadership of color during Black History Month.
In the profile, the churches he served as well as his multiple roles in leadership internationally were noted:
“Our final profile for #BlackHistoryMonth is Rev. Jimmie Scott, senior minister at Unity of San Antonio. Since his ordination in 1984, Rev. Jimmie has also served at Unity of Phoenix Spiritual Center in Phoenix, Arizona; First Unity in Nashville, Tennessee; Renaissance West in Kansas City, Missouri; and Unity Renaissance Spiritual Life Center in Chesapeake, Virginia.
He has also served the Unity movement–as Chairman of the Executive Board for the Association of Unity Churches International, now known as Unity Worldwide Ministries, and as chaplain for Unity Institute, now known as Unity Worldwide Spiritual Institute.
And finally, Rev. Jimmie has served his communities. He was vice chairman of COPE, a job training and placement organization for people with mental and physical challenges. He was a past chairman of the advisory board of Community Enhancement, an alcohol and drug abuse council for teens. He also served as an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau, as an advisor for Junior Achievement, and as a counselor for abused and neglected children.”
