Dear CommUNITY Member,
This letter kicks-off our Intentional Giving campaign for 2020! I want to begin by expressing gratitude for you and your continued presence in our UCSA CommUNITY. Your commitment to both your own and the spiritual growth of others is a powerful testament to our vison of “Dancing in the truth of who we are.” Thank you for your presence and your many gifts of time, talent, and treasure that support UCSA. Your intentions help grow this loving community.
We have seen the power that comes from our meditation, study, and service, and the continued generosity of so many of you. For example, in 2019 we celebrated paying off the mortgage on the Unity Heights building. A major accomplishment! This year we also saw growth in our adult membership. Our Youth Ministry flourished! Indeed, our children and teens continue to inspire us with their creativity and loving presence. We also experienced many enriching classes and book studies. The Unity Band inspires us through their music every Sunday. These blessings would not have been possible without your intention and support of UCSA. We are truly experiencing the gifts of our Abundance Consciousness.
And while we celebrate the joys of the past year, it is with awe and reverence that we begin the journey recognizing a significant milestone in the life of our spiritual community. In 1921, a small group of dedicated people established the Unity Center and Metaphysical Library in San Antonio as part of the movement started by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. In 2021 we will celebrate 100 years of Unity Consciousness in San Antonio! In light of a century of spiritual growth and expanding awareness, the Board of Trustees is launching a strategic planning initiative that will be centered around this celebration. You will be hearing more about these plans in the coming months.
“Looking Forward” is the theme for our 2020 Intentional Giving campaign. This theme underscores the importance of not only preparing for the coming year, but also the years to follow. By holding an intention for spiritual and financial abundance, your participation in this campaign will support our community’s vision, continued success, and plans for the future.
Intentional Giving is one expression of your support of this community and allows us to responsibly plan for the future. Your Intentional Giving helps pay many of the expenses that go into operating this ministry day-to-day. Your gifts support Sunday services, the Youth Ministry, outreach activities, and fellowship opportunities that define our CommUNITY. At its essence, your Intentional Giving is tangible evidence of a commitment to this spiritual community, to your own spiritual growth, and to each other.
Please continue your support of our CommUNITY by participating in our 2020 Intentional Giving campaign. Complete the enclosed Intentional Giving pledge card and bring it to Sunday service on November 24, when we will celebrate with our traditional abundance ceremony. If you are unable to attend this service, you can return your pledge card by mail or drop it by the office. Thank you again for your continued presence in and support of this CommUNITY.
Intentional Giving At Unity Church of San Antonio
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Since the mortgage is paid on Unity Heights, does the church require less income from Intentional Giving and Sunday offerings?
A: No. Our rent income covers only the normal facilities cost (taxes, utilities, and general maintenance.) Intentional Giving must cover administrative costs, salaries, insurance, unexpected maintenance expenses, and more. We want our facilities to look great for our 100th year observations, so some renovations and projects are planned. We desire your support now more than ever!
Q: What if my income decreases or increases after I submit my statement of Intentional Giving form?
A: That sort of thing is totally understandable, and we are here to support you when that happens! We recommend you contact Office Manager Lori Alspaugh who will make the adjustment to your ongoing contribution. You can make this request by email to [email protected]ofsa.org or telephone at 210-824-7351.
Q: What if I want to know more details as to how our funds are used at UCSA?
A: We are a CommUNITY of transparency. We encourage our CommUNITY members to attend our Board of Trustees meetings on the third Wednesday of every month. If you cannot attend, a Board Book is maintained in the church office and is available for your review during office hours. The Board Book contains the minutes from Board of Trustees meetings. Or if you would like to speak directly with our Board Treasurer, Steve Meigs, then please drop us an email at [email protected]
Q: How can I fulfill my intention when I am not able to attend UCSA every Sunday?
A: We understand, life happens! Take a look at the Intentional Giving forms located in the seat-back pockets in the sanctuary. Our easy options include automatic giving from a credit card or your bank account, online at unityofsa.org, or postal mail. When giving cash, be sure it is counted toward your statement of intent by placing it in a love offering envelope on which you have written your name and the amount. You can also become an Intentional Giver digitally on our donate page.
Contact us if you have any questions or concerns about Intentional Giving.
We thank you for “Looking Forward” and your heart of generosity.
