Unity Church of San Antonio Community Giving Committee
Unity Church of San Antonio (UCSA) has always been a community of financial generosity, tithing 10% of our income to supporting Unity organizations such as Unity Worldwide Ministries, Unity South Central Region, and Silent Unity on a rotating basis. Expanding our giving practices to include other worthy organizations has been a great stride in the direction of meeting our UCSA Fast Forward goals by 2019.
The Unity Church of San Antonio Community Giving Committee was formed as a result of the Unity Church of San Antonio’s commitment and dedication to the Fast Forward Initiatives set in place by our congregation in 2014. The Fast Forward Intention was to “Build a multi-outreach community service ministry.”
The work of the Community Giving Committee is in alignment with our core value of “Love” as demonstrated by the community behavior of charitable outreach. This work is also in alignment with our core value of “Community” as evidenced by the community behavior of active participation in local causes that support the good of the greater San Antonio Community.
The purpose of the Community Giving Committee is to provide recommendations to the Board of Trustees for giving opportunities to non-profit organizations within the UCSA service area as part of the UCSA tithing commitment. The committee developed criteria and procedures that will ensure recommended organizations are in alignment with Unity of S.A. values.
The Community Giving Committee is excited to inform everyone of this quarter’s Community Giving recipient, The Pink Berets.
As noted on their website, “It is the mission, duty and purpose of The Pink Berets to address, educate, coordinate, and provide aid and relief to active duty women of the United States Armed Forces and Veterans seeking assistance with invisible injuries such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Military Sexual Trauma and Combat Trauma Stress on a local and national level. Our goals and commitment are based solely upon helping women who have been afflicted with the devastating effects of PTSD, MST and CTS and address their symptoms before it progresses to homelessness, unemployment, and suicide. If left unaddressed it can have a significant impact on their lives and their families.”
The Community Giving Committee will present the contribution to The Pink Berets this coming Sunday November 4, 2018. We warmly invite you to attend this service, and get to know the representative from The Pink Berets. They plan to attend social hour after church and can answer any questions you have about The Pink Berets at that time.
