Local Observation September 13, 7:00 p.m. at Unity Church of San Antonio
Unity Church of San Antonio invites and welcomes everyone to their local observation of World Day of Prayer on September 13, at 7:00 p.m. The service will be located in their sanctuary on 1723 West Lawndale Drive. The service will include music, uplifting words from the church prayer chaplains, and a meditation with Rev. Jimmie Scott. Also featured will be a video message from former Unity Church of San Antonio minister Rev. Linda Martella-Whitsett, who now serves as Vice President of Silent Unity.®
Thousands of people will join Silent Unity®—an international, transdenominational, 24/7 prayer ministry— and Unity churches and centers around the world on September 13, 2018, for the 25th anniversary of Unity World Day of Prayer. The theme of the 24-hour prayer event is “Courage to Heal.” This year’s affirmation is I am a healing presence. “World Day of Prayer gives us an opportunity to come together and cultivate a faithful mindset. The activity of prayer is a way to discover inner strength, as well as courage, and at the same time keep us attuned to the Divine.” said Rev. Jimmie Scott.
The 24-hour Prayer Vigil will begin the evening of Wednesday, September 12, and continue through Thursday, September 13. Unity invites people of all faiths to join in this sacred prayer activity. Names can be submitted for prayer online at worlddayofprayer.org. “The theme ‘Courage to Heal’ will be visibly expressed at Unity World Headquarters in Unity Village, Missouri,” said Rev. Linda Martella-Whitsett, vice president of Unity Prayer and Practice. “The 24-hour Prayer Vigil traditionally begins with a beautiful candlelight walk across our central courtyard. We will also symbolize the power of our united prayers by asking people everywhere to light a virtual candle at worlddayofprayer.org. The candles will be displayed as points of light on a global map.”
