HERE AND NOW – Rev. Jimmie Scott
I cannot count the number of times over the past few days I have caught myself projecting my thoughts to some unknown point in the future when life gets back to normal. Then it strikes me that I don’t have a clear definition of normal. Upon that re-cognition I immediately understand that normalcy is something we create in our minds.
Relinquishing my need to actualize my projections reminds me that peace is a choice, a choice that I can make at any time.
Choices are magical. Choices can help us change the patterns of thought and the resulting behaviors connected to the thoughts. Choices can illuminate our spiritual consciousness beyond measure.
However, the one great caveat is trust. Trusting in an unseen power is difficult for the conscious mind which appears to thrive on activity.
In his spiritual masterpiece, Practicing the Presence, Joel Goldsmith stated;
“As consciousness becomes more spiritual, confidence in the Infinite Invisible increases, and our love, hate, or fear of the external diminishes. We see the Infinite Invisible as love, cause, and activity of all that is and drop concern for the form, whether it be person, thing, or condition.”
At another point, he states;
“God is love, God is life, God is spirit; God is all. That is true whether we are saints or sinners; it is true whether we are young or old, Jew or Gentile, Oriental or Occidental, black, yellow, or white. There are no exceptions to God, God is no respecter of persons. There is no way in which God can be left out of its own universe, but we can leave ourselves out of it.”
I will see you on the road, dear friend.
