Rev. Jimmie Scott
One of my favorite quotes by Abraham Lincoln is, “I walk slowly, but I never walk backwards.”
Mr. Lincoln was the epitome of pragmatism during a very chaotic period in American history. His commonsense approach to uncommon problems has inspired me numerous times. The slow approach can be especially challenging to a postmodern populace that has become addicted to having instant solutions, but the richness of taking just the right amount of time for any endeavor should never be overestimated.
Today, in the midst of this burgeoning pandemic we get a grisly reminder how haste has impacted our lives in ways we can’t conceive of yet.
However, we can’t go backward. Now is the time to appreciate what Mother Earth has given us. Now is the time to honor our humanity with a newfound appreciation for the universal family. Now is the time to be one, with the One!
Travel light, dear friend.
