Rev. Jimmie Scott
As the calendar year continues its descent towards its finale, I am reminded of the childhood metaphysics of the Christmas season.
The joy of setting aside the musings of the intellect and figuratively losing myself in the power of the season has inspired me since childhood.
Wonder and an inquisitive mind keeps me alive. They keep me filled to overflowing with curiosity and more often than not, remind me how little I know.
Because I am at ease with that reality I truly don’t have to sweat the small stuff.
Maria Mitchell, America’s first professional Astronomer shared the following idea with her students:
“The world of learning is so broad, and the human soul is so limited in power! We reach forward and strain every nerve, but we seize only a bit of the curtain that hides the infinite from us.”
Happy Holidays, friend
