Rev. Jimmie Scott
This week on the road ahead my focus is on seeing.
On a recent trip to the grocery, I encountered what is apparently becoming a regular occurrence, being ‘bumped into’ by a new species. The Walking Texter.
The icy stare of her annoyance at my inability to intuit that I could be standing in her way as I stood by the produce box examining apples I wanted to purchase, never crossed my mind.
I took a deep breath and stifled an immediate urge to say something brilliant, continued my shopping, and went my merry way.
Later, as I sat at my kitchen table enjoying one of the delicious apples I reflected on the experience.
Each encounter gives us an opportunity to learn and to teach. I don’t know if my brief look of annoyance taught the walking texter anything, but I did learn something about myself. For that I am grateful!
