Rev. Jimmie Scott
On the road of life, it is definitely important to stay focused and attuned to possible hazards that may be in front of us. It’s equally important to glance at the rear-view mirror, because both activities can expand the perspective of the journey.
However, the greatest expansion of the journey may occur when we pull over to the side of the road, look around, and take in the view. For even in the most desolate places, the process of being still expands our vision.
That expanded vision enables us to find navigational viewpoints that the focused mind may have missed. Hence the wisdom in the old adage, “slow down and enjoy the ride.”
“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
