Rev. Jimmie Scott
In 1984, a spiritual giant named Gladys Drew entered my life in a big way. We often had long deep conversations on a multiplicity of subjects.
Before she passed from this physical plane a few years later, she gave me a number of books from her personal library. Each book contains notations in the margins that were written in Gladysese – a language that only she understood.
Thirty-four years deep into ministry I still have those well-traveled books. This morning my attention was drawn to one authored by Sue Sikking. Its title was Seed of The New Age (How to find serenity in a changing world). I turned immediately to a page I had folded over years ago, the beginning of chapter four; “Let’s Face Ourselves.”
On the road ahead, every movement, every action, every reaction requires that we face ourselves before we face the crosscurrents of life.
Facing ourselves gives us a barometer for judgment like no other because if we can’t find serenity within, we’re definitely not apt to find it without.
Safe travels my friend!
