“Some people are making such thorough preparation for rainy days that they aren’t enjoying today’s sunshine.” – William Feather
This week on the road ahead I encourage you to think of improvisation. Why? Because many times in our journey we spend as much time preparing for the journey as we spend on the journey. There is nothing inherently wrong with preparation, except when we over prepare.
Living each moment well is the best mode of preparation because the practice of living well is much more intuitive. That in turn frees us from the rigors of overthinking and over-reacting. Overthinking can often lead to paralysis or immobility, which contributes to a feeling of powerlessness. While over-reaction only serves to make matters worse.
One good improvisational technique is simply paying attention. Try it, and you’ll find paying attention will serve you well on the road ahead.
