With Rev. Jimmie Scott
In the course of my brief journey on this amazing planet, the Christmas season has been reasonably predictable up until the present time.
In childhood I had certain expectations that were often fulfilled, and occasionally they were exceeded. Moving into adulthood, then having children and taking on the responsibility of providing for their expectations was also reasonably predictable.
Now in my twilight years, nothing is predictable. Normalcy has always been a fallacy, but the coronavirus has stretched the fallacy beyond everyone’s imagination. However, it has also caused the whole planet to reconsider priorities.
Most people have always understood that life is fragile at best, but we could always ignore that reality for short durations. Now, we have to confront our fragility every time we step outside the confines of our homes. Perhaps this is why we are gifted with the power of creative thought and creative minds.
Like generations before us, we are presented with an incredible opportunity to advance the species but advancement requires a shift in consciousness. In spiritual terms it requires a unified faith. Faith that transcends the limitations of our rational thinking. If we can collectively tune into that possibility, this too will pass.
“Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for. It is a thing to be achieved.”- William Jennings Bryan
