Rev. Jimmie on Unity Serving Military Overseas – Birdie Shawker
Hello, Unity Friends, I must say, this retired military wife has a full and overflowing heart after learning we are now partners with Unity Serving Military Overseas.
Unity Serving Military Overseas (or Unity SMO) is a Unity Worldwide Alternative Internet Ministry that has partnered with our very own Rev. Jimmie Scott. They broadcast Unity services each Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. Japan Standard Time, and another service Sunday morning 8:00 a.m. Central European Time, “Bringing Unity directly into the homes, barracks, housing, and deployed locations of our service members and their families while stationed overseas,” according to their website.
Unity SMO has a fascinating history. According to their website, “Unity Serving Military Overseas was born out of an idea in 1985, when (then) SSgt Randy Fillmore really missed Unity’s teachings while stationed at Bremerhaven, Germany. Military Chaplains were not familiar with Unity’s teachings, and reliance on Unity materials through postal offices was spotty. In the 25 years since, technology has evolved to support the ability to take Unity’s teachings around the world instantaneously and cost effectively. Randy Fillmore, now retired (from the Air Force and DoD), remembered the 1985 idea and has been working with Unity Worldwide Ministries to make manifest Unity Serving Military Overseas.”
Services are broadcast at local times to the Indo-Pacific and European theaters. Service members and their families have access to real time broadcasts and do not have to wait for stateside Unity services.
How can you help this wonderful outreach? Raise awareness! Like, follow, and share their Facebook Page. Have sons, daughters, friends, or family serving overseas? Let them know about Unity SMO! Are you active duty or retired and have connections in the military? Spread the word!
In these trans-formative times, let us keep looking for, and celebrating the good, to keep us in alignment with the love that is so needed right now. Like this news about a great new partnership. Most of all, as Rev. Jimmie often advises, “Keep the Faith.”
Big Virtual Hugs,
