From the Board of Trustees
Exciting news! Unity of San Antonio is getting a refreshed, innovative new look in the summer of 2020.
At the March 2020 Annual Meeting the Board of Trustees introduced our strategic plan for the next two years. This strategic plan included items for attention that we would like to see completed over the next two years – these items were voted on by you. Thanks to your votes, we heard you loud and clear – Unity of San Antonio is ready to more fully embrace technology and expand our identity. The top three intentions focused on expanding our reach via technology and marketing.
The next step of the strategic process was for the Board of Trustees to establish a volunteer-led task group to consider our technology options. Their research led to Unity Worldwide Ministries (UWM) Unity Identity Program.
The task group concluded that branding, “Will provide better recognition that has been professionally researched as part of the Unity movement as well as professional materials designed to reach the most people.” There is no cost to receive the benefits of branding from UWM. This was reported out to the Board and the group recommended that Unity Church of San Antonio join the Unity Identity Program.
The Board of Trustees agreed that a branding refresh would be beneficial to Unity of San Antonio. One of many benefits of the program is our new logo and our name. Our name has been simplified from Unity Church of San Antonio to Unity of San Antonio.
Although leaving off the word “church” may be a subtle change to some, this change has great impact on defining who we are as a CommUNITY. With deliberation and research, it was agreed that Unity is more than a “church.” We chose to open ourselves to the broader community as a spiritual community. Therefore, “church” is no longer in our name. UWM’s research also developed a concise description of who we are as a Unity movement. Look to our website for that description.
Moving forward in the coming months the old logo will be replaced by our new Unity of San Antonio logo. This exciting branding refresh will be on our various online and offline communication platforms such as our website, Twitter, Facebook, email, newsletters and any hard copy materials. In being good stewards of our Unity dollar, we will use any existing on-hand hard-copy materials first before printing new ones with our new identity.
Defining ourselves for today and tomorrow’s future was a first step taken before implementing our other intentions. Teams at Unity of San Antonio are at work on the rest of the annual meeting initiatives. In offering a positive path to spiritual living to San Antonio and the world, they are currently exploring options for expanding live streaming. There are also plans for updating our website and improving our signs.
The Board of Trustees is grateful for the teams that are raising Unity consciousness. We look forward to their recommendations. Look for updates here and in the newsletter.
