At Unity of San Antonio
Our local observation of World Day of Prayer is almost here! The service will be held Sept 12, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in our sanctuary located on 1723 West Lawndale Street. We warmly invite you to attend and be uplifted by this annual contemplative experience hosted by our prayer chaplains.
The service will feature music with Pamela Taylor and David Groce, and a meditation with Rev. Jimmie Scott. Our speaker will be Chaplain Birdie Shawker, of Connally Memorial Medical Center and Unity of San Antonio, and in her message we will hear insights from our community’s youth!
Prayer lists are available now from the ushers on Sundays so that your friends and family may be held in prayer on this special day in Unity that is dedicated to prayer and meditation around the world. Or you can submit your prayer list online here.
The idea for a World Day of Prayer was born out of a class assignment given to ministerial students at Unity Village in 1993. Unity Churches began their own local observations after that. World Day of Prayer unites Unity with other spiritual communities for a 24-hour period of prayer practice.

Rev. Jimmie Scott recently spoke at our local Unity church about prayer and his experiences with world Day of Prayer in his Sunday message on August 25th. However you choose to participate in World Day of Prayer, we appreciate you shining your Light in prayer. Collectively affirming “I celebrate the vast possibilities for my life,” and informed by the guiding prayer from Silent Unity’s website;
“Breathing in to prayer, I am in awe of the unbound spirit, the infinite presence within and around me. God is vitality in my breath, beauty in the natural world, strength in my determination, and compassion in my acts of service. I recognize God in the spaciousness of the universe as well as in my limitless dreams. Let me set my sight beyond where I have seen before, into the vast reality of divine power and presence. Let me draw upon divine power and presence in order to fulfill my great potential. In the harmony of prayer, my heart beats to the rhythm of God. The pulse of infinite life moves me, nourishes me, and empowers me to give life to my dreams.”
