Saturdays in April Starting, April 7, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
Families sometimes vary in appearance. Grandparents are raising their grandchildren. Some families have two Moms or two Dads. But no matter who the people are in a family, they often have one thing in common: engaged and full lives. It might seem as if there is little or no time to devote to spirituality. Especially when there’s soccer practice, homework, or a baby that won’t sleep! Join us for an empowering study designed to support you in discovering your inherent worth, gifts, talents, and Divine capacities as you navigate family life!
If you are preparing to have a family, have a full family, volunteer in Youth Ministry, or even if you are a family of one, this study of Rev. Ellen Debenport’s book, The Five Principles is for you! Get to know our most fundamental Unity teachings in a way that empowers you to live them out loud – in the midst of family life. Not the kind of picture perfect family life you might see depicted on TV, but the real experience of raising a family in today’s world.
This class is offered on a love offering (donation) basis and will meet once a week on Saturdays for five weeks starting April 7, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon and will end May 5. Don’t worry if you miss a session or two, we know you have a lot of commitments! After each class session you’ll be sent a review of the material covered by email. So you won’t miss a beat if you have to miss a class. If possible, please read the first chapter of The Five Principles by Rev. Ellen Debenport before the first class. The book is available in our church bookstore or online at Amazon. It’s will also be offered for sale at the class.
Your facilitator, L.U.T. (Licensed Unity Teacher) Candidate Birdie Shawker, R.N. knows a thing or two about family life. That’s because she’s been there! Jennifer “Birdie” Shawker currently serves at Unity of San Antonio as the Communications and Activities Coordinator. Prior to this, she served as the Youth and Family Ministry Director at Unity Church of San Angelo for 10 years. She’s also a Registered Nurse. She is the proud Mom of her teen son Ryan, and has been married to husband Frank for 21 years.
When you register, you will be contacted and given directions to the family-friendly location of this study, close to the church campus. There are still a few slots available for this class, but space is limited. Click here to register. Contact us if you have questions or concerns by clicking here.
