What is Unity?
Unity is a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and the power of prayer. Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and respects each person’s right to choose their own spiritual path.
Our basic beliefs are found in Five Basic Principles. These spiritual laws govern the entire universe. And are foundational in all the religions in the world.
- God is all good and active in everything, everywhere.
- We are made in the image and likeness of God. Our core identity is divine.
- Our thoughts, feelings, ideas, and the attitudes and beliefs we hold in mind are major influences on how we experience life.
- We experience God, and God’s good, through prayer and medication.
- We practice these truths in our daily living to be a bright light in the world.
Knowing that we live in a principle-based world, we can be grateful for all that surrounds us and supports us. We can live comfortably knowing that everything is connected. God is to Humanity as the Ocean is to Waves: Each of us is distinct as a wave which is also made up of the same energy and attributes of the ocean itself. Waves are not the entire ocean but also not separate from the ocean, just as we are not the entirety of all that is God, but we are made of the same stuff and part of the same divine flow.

Meet our Minister
Unity of San Antonio welcomed Rev. Jimmie Scott in November of 2017. His inspiring messages come from a wealth of experience he has gained from using the aforementioned spiritual laws in his life and ministry.
Rev. Jimmie has a wide variety of different experiences in ministry. Prior to serving at Unity of San Antonio, Rev. Jimmie served as the Pastoral Care Minister at Unity of Phoenix in Arizona for nine years. Prior to that service in Arizona, he served in Nashville TN and Chesapeake, VA Nashville, TN.
He has served as Chairman of the Executive Board for the Association of Unity Churches International, now known as Unity Worldwide Ministries. Rev. Jimmie has also served as the chaplain at the Unity Institute, now known as Unity Worldwide Spiritual Institute.
Rev. Jimmie has served the communities he resided in as well. He was vice chairman of COPE, a job training and placement organization for people with mental and physical challenges. He was a past chairman of the advisory board of Community Enhancement, an alcohol and drug abuse council for teens. He also served as an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau, as an advisor for Junior Achievement, and as a counselor for abused and neglected children.
