FROM OUR HIKE LEADER, FLAVIO VILCHES

You are cordially invited to this wonderful hiking trip to Lost Maples State

Natural Park on march 11th 2023.

Come join a group of nature lovers, and truth seekers,  to experience the magnificence of the thousands of maple trees in the park and build some new friendships, enjoy nature, camaraderie, and fun.

We are going to hike the  East trail loop, which is 4.6 miles.  This hike is relatively easy, mostly flat, except for two small parts with a little more steep terrain, one uphill, and one downhill.

I highly recommend wearing hiking boots, but if you don't have those, the next best thing is tennis shoes with good traction.

The hike will take somewhere between 3 to  4 hours. Yes, this is not a marathon, we want to enjoy nature,  take pictures, eat our snacks, and enjoy the company and the place. After the hike, we will go to eat lunch at Bussey's BBQ in Bandera, Tx., then drive back home.

WHAT TO BRING:

Hiking boots

Water, water, water

Sunscreen

Sunglasses

Insect repellent

Tissues

Hat

Gloves

rain /windbreaker  jacket

Warm Jacket (Texas weather : Sunny one moment, windy the next, cold

the next, then sunny again).

Hiking or walking stick is highly recommended to help you.

Pack a snack of your choice.

Backpack

WHAT NOT TO BRING:

  • PLEASE Consider seriously not wearing FLIP-FLOPS OR SANDALS (that is if you love your feet, and want to keep your toes for a longer time).

  • No cowboy boots (they lack support and traction).

  • No glass containers.

  • Consider leaving your purse at home, and instead, bring a small wallet that you can pack in your backpack

MEETING POINTS:

  • For those 6 people that would like to ride with me in my car, we meet at the Unity Heights parking lot at 7.00 am and leave promptly to the park at 7:15 am,

  • For those who are driving themselves to the park, we meet in the main parking lot inside the park. at 9.00 am

PLEASE NOTE: Reservations are required from the State parks website. My suggestion is to make the reservation for the number of people riding in your car well in advance since this is a popular park and lots of visitors want to go.

If you have any questions please feel free to give me a call, text me or contact Gina Garza. See you all soon.

Lots of love and light,

Flavio
