Music Ministry

E-mail Print

Each Sunday service at Unity begins and ends with music. Music invites everyone to separate from external distractions and focus inward to experience Spirit directly. Songs are chosen which resonate with the theme of the minister’s message. They communicate in a way that engages the heart and spirit as well as the mind. Music is strategically placed within the context of the service to provide an experience of seamless flow from beginning to end. It creates an atmosphere in which we can open our hearts and transform our lives. Sometimes the music invites us to express our joy in celebration. Other times it helps us focus our attention as we quietly chant our way into meditatiion.

Unity music minsitry team

Kelly O'Brien is UCSA Music Ministry Director.  Kelly brings out the best in the Music Ministry team and lends her angelic voice and instrumental talent on piano, guitar and other instruments to make each musical number a spiritual experience in itself for congregants. Kelly is mother of two sons. She says she has "probably the best job in the world" as music teacher to children ages six to eleven.

Giles Whitsett plays guitar, composes, and sings. He gets the house rockin' and inspired with his lively, jazzy originals and renditions of delightful spiritual songs. Giles can be contacted at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Alicia Whitsett
is also a versatile musical performer.  One Sunday, she may be the quietly angelic background voice in a meditation and then the next Sunday belt out a bluesy, inspirational number that has the congregation on their feet and rockin'!

Ron Smith sings and plays percussion on the team.  Ron's talent also covers a range from quietly spiritual to classical to James Brown bluesy!
.
Phil Aubrey rounds out the team with his harmonious voice and musical guitar accompaniment.

This talented team makes Sundays at UCSA a celebration and enhances the inspiration of the message.
