The spiritual principles taught at Unity are not intended to be adopted as dogma or creed, but rather to be tried on, practiced, and lived. Those who study and practice these principles find higher purpose, deeper peace, greater joy—an expanding capacity to radiate God’s light in all we think, do, and say.
Classes and Study Circles
Many people get involved in the Spring and Fall Study Circles. Participants read and study the chosen book and then meet once a week to discuss the book and share spiritual insights. During this six-week period of reading, reflecting, and sharing insights, UCSA members and congregants grow spiritually as they form lasting friendships. To see some of the books that are studied, browse the bookstore or lending library. Other books for study are new, poplular best-sellers in the area of new thought.
LEARNING MORE ABOUT UNITY
If you not a member, you are invited to embark upon a path of spiritual education to learn more about the Unity movement and then become a member if you so desire.
Introduction to Unity - This is a six-week class scheduled several times throughout the year. UCSA class leaders discuss the basic history of Unity and New Thought teaching. Participants learn about the main principles and most popular teachers who have guided the Unity movement worldwide. They also hear more about UCSA's history and congregation. This class is required for UCSA membership, along with a Membership Orientation class. After completing both, if you wish to become a UCSA member, you will be recognized, along with others joining, in a Sunday morning "New Member" service.
New Member Orientation - Those who have completed the Introduction to Unity four-week class are invited to learn more about membership at Unity Church of San Antonio in this one-time evening session. Those who become members are recognized in a Sunday morning "New Member" ceremony.
New Member Ceremony - After completion of orientation, those who wish to become members, participate in a new member ceremony in a Sunday morning service.
SEE Classes - Through the Association of Unity Churches Licensed Unity Teacher program, spiritual seekers have the opportunity to take special courses and receive credit toward becoming a licensed Unity teacher (LLC). These courses are labeled SEE classes (Spiritual Education and Enrichment). Everyone is invited to attend; it is not necessary to be working toward SEE certification to attend a SEE class.
A Course in Miracles - ACIM is a shared interest group that meets at Unity. UCSA hosts this group that meets once a week - Tuesday evenings in the Family Room of our Youth Education building at 7 p.m. For more: A Course in Miracles
