Light for the Road Ahead 2/01/12

Rev. Linda Martella-WhitsettThe Easy Way

A Nigerian proverb teaches:

The snail has no hands,

The snail has no feet,

Gently the snail climbs the tree.

Writing my book, How to Pray Without Talking to God, was easy.  It was easy because for me writing is a joyous activity.  I delight in the way understanding flows out into words.  I enjoy organizing thoughts and illustrating ideas with relatable stories.  Writing my book was fun.  When the book was published, a finished product, the time came to promote the book and market my message. Suddenly the book business got hard!  Or so it seemed.

Easy.  Hard.  A mental construct.  A matter of opinion.  A declaration of choice.  I talked to myself.

Instead of ...

going down the “hard” road, I decided to make of this marketing business an adventure.  I determined to search out the “easy” road, to go through the open door.  At first this was not so easy.  You know how you want to focus on the positive possibility but your attention keeps going back to what is NOT happening?  Not by will but by habit, the closed doors were in my face -- I had desires to address certain congregations and obtain endorsements from particular leaders in and beyond the Unity movement, but these possibilities were not developing.  Other avenues, however, were coming into view.  Endorsements, inquiries, and kudos trickled in unexpectedly--open doors!  I took the next easy action.  I made a phone call and booked an event.  That was easy!

Whatever you have been perceiving as hard, tell yourself:
I follow the clear path.
I go through the open door.
I choose the easy way.
I am Divine Order ordering my life.
